| Name: | Hope O'Shea | |||||||||
| Bio: | Real Name: Naomh Hope O'Shea Nicknames/Aliases: Hope Species: Metahuman (Telepath) Gender: Female Age: 27 Physical Description: Hope is 5'6" with golden brown eyes and brown hair. Her build is rather petite and feminine though her curves are not incredibly supple. She has a very strong jawline and pronounced forehead with almost eternally rosy cheeks. Unique Features: Hope has a scar upon her scalp from the car accident she was in as a child. This is, of course hidden by the thickness of her hair even though hair no longer grows upon the scar and she has to be careful about how she styles it or the scar can be seen. Date of Birth: December 12th, 1979 Birth Location: Dundee, Scotland Blood Family: Father - Cillian O'Shea (deceased) Mother - Maureen O'Shea (deceased) Adoptive Family: Father - Charles Perry Mother - Adelle Perry Residence: Cottage in Helicharis Residing With: Alone Profession(s) Held: Senior Lab Assistant Employment: Hope would like to work as a doctor at the Medical Pavilion once she regains strength enough to do so though she will probably focus more on pharmacuetics since that is her real strong suit when it comes to the medical field. Physical Strengths: Hope is not what one would consider a physically strong person. The only real strength that she has is in her determination. And that is more of a mental attribute than a physical one. Physical Weaknesses: Hope has battled illness on and off her entire life from a very young age. She was born premature and therefore was never all that healthy from the start. The accident caused even more complications, being the root cause of joint issues that began at a very young age. She is perhaps one of the oldest feeling twenty-eight year olds in existence, but she still does a good job of working through it. Aside from that, being only human, she has all of the same weaknesses that any normal human would have. Magical Abilities: Hope is a telepath. That is the extent of her magical abilities. This is, however, something that developed from a very young age and she has had a lot of time to learn to control it. She can block out the thoughts that she doesn't want to hear fairly well and can keep her own thoughts from leaking through to others with similar skills. Personal Skills & Training: Hope received her doctorates in both Chemistry and Biology from the University of Edinburgh. In addition to that, she minored in both Botany and Pharmacology. She has studied under some of the most brilliant minds of her time and has advanced quickly in the field of medical research. She was, in fact, involved in the search for a cure to the Pandora virus long before it became widespread. Personal Weaknesses: Her biggest personal weakness is her job, She will overwork herself to the point of sheer exhaustion and has, more than once, made herself physically ill by overdoing it. Her number two vice would be her cigarettes, the only real stress reliever she has when it comes to work other than the occasional pint of good, strong Whiskey. She may also enjoy gambling, poker especially, a little too much for her own good. Personality: While Hope does have a good personality, meaning that she is comical and can be fun to be around and that she maintains herself as what most would refer to as "just one of the guys", it is clear that her social skills are lacking and that she finds more comfort in the cold, calculated setting of a lab than she does anywhere else in the world. She has, at times, a very difficult time communicating with people outside of her associates and her buddies at the local pub. When it comes to relationships and expressing interest in someone, she doesn't have the slightest clue. She either comes off as being too blunt, too vague, or completely and totally clueless. Needless to say, with a personality like this, none of her relationships have been very long lasting. History: There is a lot that can be said about Hope, about her life, about her history, and what will be said here will be only a brief synopsis that outlines the major events in her life, the events that attributed to the person that she is today. To start from the beginning, Hope was born. She was the only daughter to an older Scotish couple who lived just outside of Dundee. Cillian and Maureen had long since given up hope of ever having any children as Maureen was well into her 40's and Cillian in his 50's. When the doctor told Maureen that she was pregnant, that she was not going through the change of life, she thought he was mad. But surely enough, the pregnancy progressed, and seven months later, Naomh Hope O'Shea was born. The seven is not, however, a typo. Hope was born eight weeks premature and encountered a lot of problems because of this. Her lungs had not fully developed and she spent the first two months of her life in an incubator and spent the first several years of her life on steroids to compensate for her body's ill-development. She was in and out of the doctor's offices and the hospitals, sometimes spending more time there than she even did at home, and though she was a blessing for the O'Shea's, she was also a bit of a burden even if her parents would never say that out loud. Fast forward to the age of eight, Hope is on her way back from Edinburgh with her parents when there's a horrible crash. Her parents died on the scene, and Hope died in route to the hospital but was revived. Emergency surgery had to be performed in order to drain the blood that was caught between her brain and her skull, each moment causing more and more damage. She woke up from a coma three months later to learn the tragic news. The O'Sheas had no family. Hope was now an orphan, and she would remain that way for two more years. It was also around this time that her "talent" began to present itself. She could literally hear other people's thoughts. This was a very strange thing for a child to deal with on top of the loss of her parents, but she somehow managed to make it through it. At the age of ten, she was adopted by an English couple who had relocated to Scotland, Charles and Adelle Perry. They were living in Edinburgh at the time. It was a conscious decision of theirs to adopt an older child rather than an infant, feeling that it was incredibly unfair that so many children were left abandoned because of their age. They were wonderful and loving people, supportive from the start in spite of the fact that they thought their new daughter might suffer from some sort of insanity due to her belief that she could hear the thoughts of others. She quickly learned that that was not something that one should share, and rather than fight them on it, she began to work on controlling it, and began to grow a quick interest in medical science. Hope was an extremely bright girl. By the time she was fifteen, she was doing the work of a University Freshman. By the time she was sixteen, she was a University Freshman. The University of Edinburgh was more than pleased to accept her, and she superceded any and all expectations. By the time she was eighteen, she was well on her way towards her doctorate. She was one of the youngest to ever receive such a thing in both Biology and Chemistry, finishing these degrees, as well as completing her double minor in Pharmacology and Botany, at just over twenty-one years of age. It didn't take her long at all to find a job working as an assistant in a lab funded by the English government. Hope had the distinct pleasure of working with some of the most brilliant minds of modern times. Her job working for the English Government took her all over the world, to all walks of life, to meet and work with all different types of scientists from all different schools of thought. Her curiosity about the paranormal fields of study was, in spite of her own ability, minimal, and she avoided those circles whenever possible, preferring the more logical setting of a chemist' lab. When the Pandora virus first began to rear its ugly head, Hope was working as the Senior Lab Assistant in a UN operated lab just outside of Athens. They were the fist laboratory to start experimenting with a cure. Even once it had become evident that a cure would not be found in time, that the virus was going to win, Hope did not give up. She continued to work, despite the urgings of her co-workers to get out, while the world fell apart around her. It wasn't until the very last possible moment, when all hope was lost, that she finally gave up and began to seek out a safehaven. It was through sheer luck that she made it to Elysium. Had she not encountered the exact right person, she would have never made it there, may have never even known that it existed. But her gift saved her. Her gift gave her just enough information to pry for more. The location was revealed to her and she set out, barely making it in time. Utterly exhausted from not only her tireless efforts to ind the missing piece of the puzzle but also the trip, Hope collapsed right after making it into Helicharis. She was taken immediately to the medical pavilion. Always having been of ill health, it didn't take much for anything to take hold of her tightly, and a terrible case of the flu seized her though it was clearly not the Pandora Virus that made her temperature climb. In spite of any assistance offered, it took weeks for her to start to show signs of improvement. She was given a cottage to live in within the city, and has spent the past few months since her arrival recovering from her illness. | |||||||||
